Job summary
Little St Johns Surgery in Woodbridge is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into their busy practice. This will be a part-time position for15 hours per week, working on Tuesdays 08.00-14.00 and Fridays 09.00-18.30. Please note there may occasionally be the need to work on Saturday mornings and cover for holidays/sickness so you will need to have some flexibility.
Working closely with the dispensary lead you will be involved in all areas of their busy dispensary including liaising with GPs, patients and other members of practice staff.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a comprehensive dispensing service to approved patients on the practice list.
- Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
- Ensure that the procedures governing charging and exemption for prescriptions is carried out in accordance with statutory obligations.
- Keep up to date with new medications, their actions and side effects.
- Operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice.
- Ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
- Maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when available and appropriate.
