Job summary

Flitwick Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist to work in a GP practice with an established clinical pharmacy team. The role is offered on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week over 4-5 days.

The post holder will be actively involved in clinical audit of practice prescribing standards and supporting prescribing changes where necessary.

Main duties of the job

  • Reviewing areas of chronic disease management
  • Undertaking clinical medication reviews to proactively manage patients with complex polypharmacy
  • Providing primary support to general practice staff, clinical and non-clinical, with regards to prescription and medication queries.

The role will be based at Flitwick Surgery, a purpose built GP Practice in Bedfordshire. We have many years of experience working with clinical pharmacists and have established pharmacy teams in the practice. We are committed to multidisciplinary working and have a collaborative approach to patient care. We are keen to utilise the skills of a Clinical Pharmacist to support continuing care of our patients. This role is ideally positioned to make a positive difference to patient care, as well as being part of a team committed to developing its staff.

Essential

  • We are looking for a team orientated and motivated individual who is keen to develop their role as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing role. The successful applicant will have a good clinical background and possess the requisite skills required to support safe, evidence based, and cost-effective prescribing and provide support to general practice clinicians. They will develop and embed clinical and prescribing processes where necessary.
  • As a PCN pharmacist you will receive fully accredited training and will be provided with appropriate supervision and guidance.

Desirable

  • Experience in general practice is desirable but not essential and qualification as an independent prescriber would be an advantage.

  • Completion of a degree in pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council;
