Job summary

South Rural Primary Care Network (PCN) are looking to welcome an experienced paramedic to the team on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours a week. This can be worked across either 4 or 5 days to suit the applicant. The role will be based at the Holbrook and Shotley practice.

To be considered for this role, you will need to have 2 years consolidation of learning period completed as a newly qualified paramedic and a further 3 years experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic.

Working within the community, as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, you will provide assessment, management and treatment to our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Assess, manage, treat, refer and/or signpost patients/service users who attend surgery with undifferentiated or undiagnosed condition relating to minor illness or minor injury.
  • Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.
  • Managing and treating patients presenting with minor illness.
  • Triage and treat patients, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team.
  • Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments.
  • Perform investigatory procedures needed by patients and those requested by the GPs.
  • Communicate at all levels within the team ensuring an effective service is delivered.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous healthcare records appropriate to the consultation.
  • Actively participate in mentoring and supervision, plus practice-derived CPD opportunities.
  • Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and work colleagues.
  • If a prescriber - prescribe/issue medications as appropriate following policy, patient group directives NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways.

Our PCN provides services to 56,000 patients across rural Suffolk. Our PCN includes the following practices: Bildeston Health Centre, Constable Country Medical Practice (East Bergholt and Capel St Mary), Hadleigh Health Centre (Boxford), The Holbrook and Shotley Surgery and Needham Market Country Practice.
