Job summary
South Rural Primary Care Network (PCN) are looking to welcome an experienced paramedic to the team on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours a week. This can be worked across either 4 or 5 days to suit the applicant. The role will be based at the Holbrook and Shotley practice.
To be considered for this role, you will need to have 2 years consolidation of learning period completed as a newly qualified paramedic and a further 3 years experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic.
Working within the community, as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, you will provide assessment, management and treatment to our patients.
Main duties of the job
- Assess, manage, treat, refer and/or signpost patients/service users who attend surgery with undifferentiated or undiagnosed condition relating to minor illness or minor injury.
- Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.
- Managing and treating patients presenting with minor illness.
- Triage and treat patients, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team.
- Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments.
- Perform investigatory procedures needed by patients and those requested by the GPs.
- Communicate at all levels within the team ensuring an effective service is delivered.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous healthcare records appropriate to the consultation.
- Actively participate in mentoring and supervision, plus practice-derived CPD opportunities.
- Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and work colleagues.
- If a prescriber - prescribe/issue medications as appropriate following policy, patient group directives NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways.

Our PCN includes the following practices: Bildeston Health Centre, Constable Country Medical Practice (East Bergholt and Capel St Mary), Hadleigh Health Centre (Boxford), The Holbrook and Shotley Surgery and Needham Market Country Practice.

- Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care.
- Have completed ENP/ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider.
