Job summary

Acle Medical Practice in Norwich, are looking to recruit a medical receptionist to provide support to the reception department to ensure our patients get the best care possible. This position is offered on a part-time basis.

As part of carrying out this role, the receptionist will be answering phone calls, entering patient data and scheduling patient appointments and home visit appointments. This post requires a kind and caring individual with an eye for detail.

General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as part of a team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the surgery to deliver the best possible service to patients.
  • Undertake your duties in a professional, confidential and efficient manner.
  • Liaise effectively with other health professionals and colleagues.
  • Ensure efficiency of appointment system and monitor flow of patients into consulting rooms.
  • Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring procedures are completed.
  • Ensure reception and work area is kept neat and tidy.
  • Manage and assist with online digital appointment service.
  • Answer telephone and deal appropriately with enquiries.
  • Book appointments ensuring sufficient information is recorded to retrieve medical records.
  • Where applicable enter results and other information into computerised patient records.
  • Enter requests for home visits onto EMIS system incorporating all required data and where necessary refer to the duty doctor.
  • Liaise with doctors and nurses to provide maximum support to surgeries and clinics.
  • Prepare surgery and clinic lists ensuring all patients notes are available.
  • Arrange hospital transport when required.
  • Ensure patient and Practice confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Using computer to access, extract and enter patient information.

About us

Acle Medical Partnership is a rural 9 doctor dispensing practice providing care to approximately 9,500 patients in and around Acle in north Norfolk.

Our team is led by 4 partners who work with 2 salaried GPS, 1 retainer GP, advanced paramedic, 2 advanced nurse practitioners, physicians associate, nursing team and HCAs. We have an excellent non-clinical admin and reception team.

We have a branch surgery in the pretty village of Reedham. We are a teaching practice with year 2 students. Our clinical system is Emis. Acle Medical Partnership is a GMS practice with a good CQC rating. We are a friendly practice and offer high levels of support.

We are looking for a candidate that fits well into our Practice and whose priorities are excellent patient care and teamwork. The focus of this role is to deliver a well led, safe, effective, patient centred and profitable dispensary. We promote a good work life balance and provide private healthcare insurance for all staff.

We have regular team meetings, clinical and non-clinical and have a very supportive partnership.
