Healthcare Assistant

Job summary

Two Rivers Medical Centre is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 22.5 hours per week, to be worked over three days, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The healthcare assistant role within general practice can be very different to the role within other settings and as such we are only looking for applications from those with previous primary care experience.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Main duties of the job

• Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
• Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
• Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
• Update patient health records.
• Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
• Act as a chaperone where required.
• Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
• New patient health checks.
