Trainee Dispenser/Dispenser

Job summary

Stanton Surgery in Bury St Edmunds are looking to welcome a dispenser/trainee dispenser into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. The position is offered on 30-37 hours per week. If you are an experienced dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
  • Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
  • Check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor if any queries arise.
  • Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
  • Process hospital letters.
  • Manage ordering stock and stock control.
  • Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries.
  • Monitor patients exemption status.
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
  • Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary, operations or practice manager.

About us

Stanton Surgery is a rural dispensing and training practice located in the village of Stanton, set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside close to Bury St Edmunds. We have modern purpose built premises, which have recently been extended and provide a bright and airy setting in which to work. We serve a stable population of approximately 5,200 patients.

We are part of Blackbourne PCN which consists of four rural practices.
