Job summary

Ongar Health Centre looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice towill play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week, days and hours to be discussed.

Main duties of the job

  • Dispensing medicines and collecting prescription charges.
  • Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensing manager to facilitate reordering.
  • Receiving and storing supplies, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.
  • Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy.
  • Safely disposing of returned and/or out of date medicines.
  • Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 72-hour timeframe.
  • Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters.
  • Always maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

About us

We are a large, busy training practice, serving a patient population of 12,700 and operating from purpose built premises.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or be willing to work towards this.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working within a pharmacy or dispensary is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Respectful of patient confidentiality.
  • A clear and polite telephone manner.
