Job summary

St James Surgery in Clacton has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our team on a full-time basis, based at our Wash Lane surgery.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients health and social care needs are met.
  • General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
  • Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
  • Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.

About us

We are a large, friendly hardworking surgery with our main surgery located in Clacton and a branch in St Osyth. We are an EMIS Web practice with a patient list size of 15,200 patients.

Essential

  • Practice experience is preferred but not essential as full-training will be given.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions is desirable.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.

  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
