Job summary

Nayland Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, to play a full and active role within the practice multi-disciplinary team. The role is offered for a minimum of 30 hours per week with days and times to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

• Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
• Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and when there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising or duty doctor or duty.
• Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
• Process hospital letters.
• Process dossett boxes.
• Manage ordering stock & stock control.
• Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau.
• Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries.
• Monitor patients exemption status.
• Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
• Any other duties to assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.
