Job summary

Ludham and Stalham Green Surgeries located in Great Yarmouth, have a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will require the applicant to enrol on a fully-funded GPA training course.

The GPA will assist the GPs in maintaining high standards of patient care whilst ensuring the smooth running of the administration of a busy general practice. The role will be varied, challenging, and fast paced. The GPA will provide a point of contact for patients and as such are required to be courteous, sympathetic, and professional in these dealings. The need to liaise effectively with other health professionals and colleagues is a major requirement of this post. Main duties of the job

  • Independently manage, carry out and prioritise a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
  • Manage and maintain schedules and diaries.
  • Using a range of software programmes to produce, maintain and distribute documents, including emailing, distributing, typing documents, filing, and organising letters, reports, and other documents.
  • Set up and maintain comprehensive, confidential records and filing systems, ensuring that all records are kept up-to-date and filing is carried out in a timely manner.
  • Monitor workloads.
  • Extraction of necessary data from clinical correspondence and read coding information into electronic patient record.
  • Research appropriate websites, downloading, and sourcing patient leaflets, as requested.
  • Manage own emails, dealing with as much as possible and using a flagging system to prioritise those for the GPs attention.
  • Anticipate and assess problems or issues, showing initiative and exercising independent judgement in resolving or actioning them on behalf of the GPs.
