Job summary

St James Surgery located in Clacton is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is to be based across two sites and is offered for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Main duties of the job

  • Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
  • Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Update patient health records.
  • Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
  • Act as a chaperone where required.
  • Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
  • New patient health checks.

About us

We are a large, friendly hardworking surgery with our main surgery located in Clacton and a branch in St Osyth. We are a EMIS Web practice with a patient list size of 14,400 patients.
