Job summary

Fressingfield Medical Centre is a very friendly and supportive GP practice in rural north Suffolk and currently are recruiting an additional, experienced phlebotomist to join our nursing team. We are offering this position on a part-time basis for 12 hours per week, ideally to work on Thursday and Friday morning. Applicants need to have the flexibility to work additional hours to cover colleagues absence.

This important role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to train to become a healthcare assistant.

Main duties of the job

  • Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols toassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
  • Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples.
  • Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
  • Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
  • Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues.
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

  • Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture.
