Job summary

Wells Health Centre is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on a part-time basis, for 25 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
  • Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of vaccines.
  • Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Update patient health records.
  • Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
  • Act as a chaperone where required.
  • Assist GP during the performance of minor operations.
  • Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
  • New patient health checks.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

About us

Wells Health Centre is a small GP Practice on the Norfolk coast rated as Outstanding by the CQC. It provides care to around 3,300 patients in and around Wells-Next-the -Sea. In January 2022 the Burnham Market partners joined with Wells Health Centre and the two sites are running as sister sites within the same partnership.

  • Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a GP practice.

Qualifications
