Job summary
Cobbs Garden Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, for 3-4 days a week.
Main duties of the job
- Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
- Phlebotomy.
- Dopplers.
- Injections including Zoladex.
- Travel vaccines.
- Dressings including compression.
- Baby immunisations.
- ECGs.
- HRT and contraception reviews.
- Cervical screening.
- Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients health and social care needs are met.
- General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
- Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
- Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
- Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.
- Hypertension review and management.
- New patient and health checks.

Cobbs Garden is based in Olney, a beautiful market town in north Buckinghamshire and we also serve the surrounding villages.

Our multidisciplinary team is made up of a range of very experienced clinicians including doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, a full time pharmacist, a physiotherapist, a nursing associate, HCA, care coordinator and a social prescriber.
We are in the process of becoming a teaching practice.

- Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications;
- Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.

- Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
- Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
- Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
