Dispenser / Trainee Dispenser

Job summary

Sidney House Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, on a full time basis, who will play an active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

• process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
• Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
• Collect all due prescription charges.
• Manage ordering stock and stock control.
• Prepare monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau.
• Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries.
• Monitor patients exemption status.
• Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
• Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the partners or practice manager.

We are a two-site training practice based in the semi-rural villages of Hatfield Peverel and Boreham, serving a patient population of 11,200. We are a SystmOne Practice with a consistently high QOF achievement and a CQC rating of Good.

We are part of the Aegros PCN with Lt. Waltham & Great Notley, Douglas Grove Surgery and the Beacon Health Group.
