Job summary

Due to expansion and growth, we are seeking focused, hardworking and dedicated individuals to join our established and well run dispensary team. We are a friendly doctors surgery looking for qualified dispensers, to work 30-37 hours a week in our surgery dispensary. Our surgery is rated 'Good' by the CQC.

Main duties of the job

• Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GP's and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
• Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
• Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient;
• Process hospital letters;
• Process dossett boxes;
• Manage ordering stock and stock control;
• Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau;
• Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries;
• Monitor patients exemption status;
• Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
• Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.
