Job summary

Chet Valley Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative Pharmacy Technician to join our team on a part-time basis, for 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake medicine reconciliation and update patients medical records/prescribing accordingly.
  • Carry out medicine optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration & technical medication reviews, utilise consultation skills to work with patients to ensure they use their medicines effectively.
  • Maintain records of all patient contacts using appropriate clinical templates & coding.
  • Support medication reviews and medicine reconciliation for new care home patients.
  • Support the prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets.
  • Review and develop repeat prescribing protocols /standard operating procedures to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of repeat prescribing systems.
  • Provide advice in changes to prescribing to support the improvement of prescribing safely, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist in the appropriate monitoring and management of prescribing budgets, liaise with the medicines management team.
  • Support the practice by providing medication reviews, information leaflets, medicine awareness & undertake home visits as appropriate
  • Respond to medication queries from patients & staff in a professional manner referring to the appropriate GP when required.

About us

Chet Valley Medical Practice is based within the village of Loddon in our spacious purpose-built premises. We have a list size of 9,000 patients, and cover an area including Loddon, Chedgrave and the surrounding villages including Norton Sub Course, Hoverston and Surlingham.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Be a registered pharmacy technician with the GPhC.
  • Hold a Diploma Level 3 in pharmacy services, or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

  • Have strong experience in either a community pharmacy or a primary care setting.
  • Be confident in analysing and presenting information to health professionals.
  • Have experience of implementing and promoting cost-effective strategies.
  • Have the ability to interpret complex clinical information and present it in suitable formats, to a variety of people from professional and non-professional backgrounds.
