Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physician associate to join the Grand Union Primary Care Network, this job will be based at Bridgewater Surgery, Bridgewater Meriden and our new site on St Albans Road, Watford.
Main duties of the job
You will work with a diverse range of people from different cultural and social backgrounds. The ability to work confidently and effectively within your professional boundaries, in a varied and sometimes challenging environment is essential.You will be providing care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a GP. You will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice, in consultation with the duty GP. You will work with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of patients.

Knowledge and skills
Essential
- A postgraduate degree in Physician Associate studies from an accredited PA programme.
- Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes UK Physician Associate Registration (the PA Managed Voluntary Register).
- Current and valid certification or re-certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination.
- An understanding and knowledge of healthcare provision in GP surgeries, QOF, Enhanced Services and national standards that inform practice (NSF, NICE Guidelines).
- An appreciation of the new NHS landscape including the relationships between individual practices, PCNs and the commissioners.
- An understanding of GMC Good Medical Practice and the medico-legal aspects of PA role.
- Experience and an awareness of common acute and chronic conditions that are likely to be seen in general practice.
- Ideally experience of working in a primary care setting.
- Evidence of working autonomously and as part of a team.
