Job summary

Chet Valley Medical Practicehas a fantastic opportunity foran experienced practice nurseon apart-time basis,flexiblehours available to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

We are searching for a candidate with drive and ambition to support a new and exciting practice transformation project, who shares our ideals surrounding patient care and will work alongside us to develop and implement new innovative ways of working throughout the practice. An interest and qualification in respiratory disease management would be advantageous.

About us

Chet Valley Medical Practice is based within the village of Loddon in our spacious purpose-built premises. We have a list size of 9000 patients and cover an area including Loddon, Chedgrave and the surrounding villages including Norton Sub Course, Hoverston and Surlingham.

Chet Valley is a dispensing practice and have a full clinical team including 7 GPs, 3 practice nurses and two HCAs as well as two Nurse Practitioners, an outreach nurse and a paramedic who deals with most of our home visits.

What you can expect working with Chet Valley:

Work/life balance:We respect the importance of a good work/life balance and working late into the evening is not an expectation for our staff. We offer a minimum of 15 minutes for a face-to-face appointment and 10 minutes for a telephone consultation.

Effective Team Working:We have recently introduced a successful daily morning huddle where our team comes together to discuss the working day, whilst enjoying a cup of fresh coffee. We recognise the importance of good communication and hold monthly individual team meetings as well as quarterly all staff meetings and regular events outside of work to continue enhancing team relationships.

Protected Time:The nursing team have protected administration time built into their working rotas as well as protected clinic set-up and clear-up time.

We are implementing innovative new ways of working which put our ideals around patient care at the forefront of our processes and development plans.

Working as a senior member of the practice multidisciplinary team, you will ensure nursing services are delivered effectively to the entitled patient population andbe responsible for the implementation of processes for the effective management of patients with long-term conditions using evidence-based practice. You will beresponsible for a number of clinical areas such as long-term respiratory condition reviews,infection prevention and control, health promotion, adult and child immunisations, as well as actively supporting the practice management team in the reviewing and delivery of clinical policy and procedure.

The main responsibilities of the role includeundertaking a variety of treatment room tasks including but not limited to:

  • Measurement of blood pressure
  • Urinalysis
  • ECGs
  • Venepuncture
  • Cervical screening & swabs
  • Wound care including removal of sutures and clips
  • Routine injections and immunisations
  • Contraceptive reviews
  • Long-term condition reviews -including respiratory conditions
  • Anticoagulant monitoring via INR Star

Essential

  • All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Respiratory trained in both COPD and Asthma or prepared to undertake training as soon as possible.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
  • Previous experience as working as a practice or community nurse.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
