Job description

Job responsibilities

Right now, at London Road Surgery, we are working on two exciting projects. We aim to reduce pressure on our GPs by including all the work a GP does on our appointment rotas. We acknowledge that whilst the number of tasks can be endless, the hours in a day are not, and so we are in the early stages of moving away from tasks to care-related encounters on the GP rota. Feedback so far has been positive. We are also working on allocating an Urgent Care Clinician to our reception team every morning to support triage.

We are part of a strong, well-run local Primary Care Network (East Bedford PCN) that has enabled many additional staff with new roles within the practice, enabling innovative new ways of working and reducing the administrative burden on GPs.

We recognise that patient safety is compromised by excessive GP workload, so staffing up each day is a high priority. A 'safety valve' of maximum patient numbers per doctor per day (including the duty doctor) exists.

If you would like more information, an informal discussion, or to arrange a visit to the practice, please contact Kirstin Frost (Joint Practice Manager) at:Kirstin.frost@nhs.netor 07792831718.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team.
