Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and pro-active receptionist to join the team based in The Riverside Heath Centre. The role is offered on a part-time basis, for approximately 24 hours a week, plus the requirement for flexibility to provide holiday and sickness cover for colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will:

  • Provide a point of contact for patients and liaise with doctors and the wider team.
  • Provide support to the practice team in a positive and friendly manner ensuring that patients and other visitors access the appropriate services or healthcare professional either in person or via the telephone.

About us

The Colte Partnership is a GP super-partnership, formed in June 2017. It brought together 9 local GP surgeries across Colchester & Tendring, serving approx. 98,000 patients. With the combined workforce, skills and knowledge, we are in a unique position to assist our patients across the county.

As well as general practice, we offer extended access appointments to enable all of our patients to access medical care at evening and weekends; we work collaboratively with external agencies to provide in home services and social prescribing; we are working to be at the forefront of clinical research; and have many more exciting ventures on the horizon.

We also work as three collaborative primary care networks (PCNs) which span across Colchester and Tendring:

  • Ambrose Avenue Group Practice, Riverside Medical Centre & Ardleigh Surgery
  • Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre & Rowhedge Medical Centre
  • Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre

There is a wide socio-economic demographic served within this area which provides an interesting and varied case mix. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.

Essential

  • Applicants must demonstrate an enthusiasm for primary care, with a genuine interest in working with patients and the delivery of high-quality health care.
  • Applicants should be courteous, highly motivated and able to project a positive and friendly image to our patients and visitors.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and orally, and have good social skills.
  • Friendly and positive approach towards patients and other visitors, either in person or over the telephone.
  • Flexible and a team player.
  • A good standard of education including maths and English.
  • Experience of working and providing customer services.
  • Strong IT skills and be able to use computer-based systems.

Desirable

  • Previous reception and administration experience is an advantage, but not essential as full training and support will be given.
  • It would be beneficial if you have experience working within primary care, however this is not essential.
  • Experience of Emis would be desirable, however full training will be given to a suitable candidate.
