Job summary

Barrack Lane Medical Centre has 2 practice nurse positions available. The hours are flexible and full and part-time applications will be considered.

Barrack Lane Medical Centre is a large town centre training practice delivering care to 19,000 patients across two sites. We are looking for a practice nurse to complement our team of 4 practice nurses, 1 associate practitioner, 3 healthcare assistants & an advanced care practitioner.

Main duties of the job

The post-holders will be responsible for the delivery of general practice nursing to the whole practice population. The focus of the role is both the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients presenting with a long-term condition, and the provision of preventative health care to the practice population. As an autonomous practitioner the nurse is responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making in the management of patients. They will work collaboratively within the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, support the delivery of policy and procedures, and provide nurse leadership as required.

  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant will be experienced in general treatment room duties including phlebotomy, ECGs, cervical smears, ear irrigation, immunisations and wound care.
  • Experience in caring for patients with long term conditions would be an advantage.
