Main duties of the job

The successful applicants role will include minor illness surgeries, home visits and on-call duties (working as a team with the on-call GP). We are a member of the 9 practice COLTE super-partnership which allows us to benefit from working at scale and sharing clinical and non-clinical skills whilst allowing operational independence. Extended access and specialist clinics are provided through our PCN with the opportunity to work additional hours at an enhanced rate.

You will be required to provide a high-quality, cost effective service to the patients, diagnosing and prescribing treatments and drugs working within defined procedures and protocols as laid down by the GPs. Clinically you will be responsible for receiving patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make an assessment of their healthcare needs.You will carry out assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, referral and discharge as appropriate and deliver key elements of the NSFs, providing public health, health protection and promotion programmes that improve health and reduce inequalities. You will work closely with a team of GPs and practice nurses.

The Colte Partnership is a GP super-partnership, formed in June 2017. It brought together 9 local GP surgeries across Colchester & Tendring, serving approx. 98,000 patients. With the combined workforce, skills and knowledge, we are in a unique position to assist our patients across the county.

As well as general practice, we offer extended access appointments to enable all of our patients to access medical care at evening and weekends; we work collaboratively with external agencies to provide in home services and social prescribing; we are working to be at the forefront of clinical research & have many more exciting ventures on the horizon. We also work as three collaborative primary care networks (PCNs) which span across Colchester and Tendring.

There is a wide socio-economic demographic served within this area which provides an interesting and varied case mix.

We are also supported by 3 clinical pharmacists, 2 pharmacy technicians, 2 prescription clerks, an MSK team, the PCN mental health team and a social prescriber. We are further supported by an excellent non-clinical team including a dynamic GP Assistant and a care co-ordinator team.
