Job summary

Caritas Medical Primary Care Network has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our network as PCN Manager to support our four network practices deliver the strategic and operational aims of the PCN DES, due to the retirement of our current postholder. We are looking for someone to work 2-3 days per week, days can be flexible although will follow a fixed weekly pattern and hours will be expected to be worked during surgery opening hours. The role can be done from home and/or the member GP practices however it is important that the applicant is able to attend meetings in Bedford, sometimes at short notice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the team working closely with the PCN CD, PCN board and practice managers.Project management and finances will be an important part of this post with the ability to direct andco-ordinate activity across all practices.The post-holder will continue to develop and establish strong collaborative relationships with practices and all stakeholders. These include the ICB, local partners, Borough Council, practice members of our PCN and, most importantly, our patients.

The PCN Manager has a number of areas of responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the PCN including:

  • Team management
  • Financial management
  • Service improvement
  • Contract management
  • Building relationships
  • Policy & service development

Caritas Medical is a progressive and innovative primary care network of four practices, with a fifth associate surgery, serving a population of 62,000 patients in Bedford. We have a separate limited company which manages our shared staff. Our network aim is to support and augment the good work of our practices, working together and sharing allied health resources to better the health and wellbeing for all our patients. Our ambition is to continue to develop our prevention work using population health management processes, and our practices are committed to developing and expanding training of our workforce to support recruitment and retention. We have developed excellent working relations with the three other Bedford PCNs and when possible, work collaboratively to support the wider population within Bedford.
