Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our experienced Nursing Team at Glastonbury Health Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
As a Practice Nurse, you will play a key role in the management of both acute and long-term conditions, health promotion, and preventative care. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to drive improvements in nursing-led services and help implement evidence-based practices. Asthma or respiratory qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties include
- Able to perform venous blood sampling collection to organisational and health and safety standards
- Performing blood pressure checks, including fitting 24hr blood pressure monitors fitting, removal and completing referrals where required
- Nurse duties, including but not limited to; pulse and temperature checks, recording patient height and weight, urinalysis, ECG recording, ear checks and syringing, management of Asthma Spirometruy and FeNo
- Requesting, processing and management of laboratory samples
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Training opportunities are available if you do not have all of the above skills, this role is also suitable for newly qualified nurses / trainee nurse associates looking for a route into Primary Care.

- Able to perform venous blood sampling collection to organisational and health and safety standards.
- Performing blood pressure checks, including fitting 24hr blood pressure monitors fitting, removal and completing referrals where required.
- Pulse and temperature checks.
- Recording patient height and weight.
- Urinalysis.
- ECG recording.
- Ear checks and syringing.
- Management of Asthma Spirometry and FeNo.
- Management of Diabetes including physical checks.
- Cytology.
- Vaccinations and IM injections in line with protocol and competencies. Including routine, childhood and travel immunisations.
- NHS health checks.
- Wound care. Removal of sutures / clips.
- Doppler and ABPI.
- Interest in contraceptive services, pill checks.
- Requesting, processing and management of laboratory samples.
- Assisting ANPs and GPs with minor surgery.
- Chaperoning patients.
- Assisting in the performance of minor operations.
- Raising awareness of health and well-being and lifestyle advice.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Other tasks will include:
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Supporting the Lead Infection Control Nurse
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
- Ordering of stock via the Practice Manager
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
