Job summary

We are the NHS Confederation, the voice of healthcare leaders.

As the only membership body for the whole healthcare system, we are uniquely placed to bring together, support and speak for leaders and organisations across the sector. We join the dots between different parts of the health and care system; we understand the challenges our members face.

Building relationships with industry is a key way we help our members and inform our work. Partnerships can help the NHS get up stream, adopt technology, work differently and achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in a challenging time. We are good at this; we are ambitious and want to get even better. Therefore, we are expanding our Industry Engagement & Policy team to support this, with a new Head of role.

We have a great opportunity for some someone with a wealth of understanding of the health policy landscape, to apply this to help us maintain and build new commercial partnerships, create new products and support our programme events.

Main duties of the job

As the Head of Industry Engagement & Policy, you will:

  • account manage relationships with our partners - some of the biggest companies working with the NHS, including Google Health, Microsoft, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, Accenture and many more.
  • manage a team to use insights from these relationships to design new commercial offers, and help shape the programme for NHS ConfedExpo, our major event for NHS leaders, which we deliver in partnership with NHS England.

You'll also constantly look to build our pipeline of new partners, enabling us to grow our income and fund our work to support our members.

  • Experience of understanding health policy, to inform new products and develop thought leadership content
  • Extensive experience of developing commercial propositions around policy work
  • Demonstrate successful management of relationships at a senior level, including internal and external leaders
  • Record of developing processes and strategies to account manage industry partners to build grow their investment, add value, build coalitions and achieve shared goal
  • Experience of working in a matrix-style organisation and across departments
  • Ability to be responsive and agile in a rapidly changing environment.

Desirable

  • Record of working collaboratively with partner organisations to build coalitions and achieve shared goals
  • Experience working with or in a membership or network environment
  • Knowledge of project and programme management tools and techniques
