Job summary

We are looking for a Policy and Delivery Officer to support the NHS Confederations ICS Network in our small but busy team working with a high profile group of Integrated Care System (ICS) members. You will play a critical role in supporting the smooth running of the teams activity, helping to coordinate and deliver key products and operations.

Main duties of the job

As a Policy and Delivery Officer you will provide day to day policy and project support to the ICS Networks policy function. This includes:

  • Arranging, researching and supporting the content for several of the ICS Networks proactive and reactive policy products publications, consultation responses, presentations, events, and member communications.
  • Taking an active role in supporting the policy leads to develop the ICS Networks proactive and reactive policy messaging by working with our members.
  • Researching and gathering key data, statistics, and research outputs on key topics relevant to the ICS Networks policy priorities and provide detail to support colleagues on policy areas.

Job responsibilities

The Policy and Delivery Officer will play a critical role in supporting the smooth running of the NHS Confederations ICS Network, helping to coordinate key deliverables, products, and operations.

The postholder will provide day to day policy and project support to the ICS Networks policy function. This includes, arranging, researching and supporting the content for several of the ICS Networks proactive and reactive policy products publications, consultation responses, presentations, events, and member communications and take an active role in supporting the policy leads to develop the ICS Networks proactive and reactive policy messaging by working with our members. They will also, with supervision, initiate research projects (e.g. literature reviews, data collection and analysis, member interviews, gather case studies). They will have direct contact with the admin teams for ICS Network members and external stakeholders, i.e. the Chairs, Chief Executives and other members of Integrated Care Systems. They may from time to time be expected to have contact with the offices/diary managers of very senior stakeholders, including politicians and Government Ministers, Senior Civil Servants, Royal Colleges and Societies, think tanks and other national bodies.

The post holder will have ad hoc tasks and activities appropriate to the scope and grade of the role.

Essential

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, with good internal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, working to tight timescales, and taking a proactive approach to ensure meetings take place smoothly, often using your judgement to arrive at the best approach.
  • Ability to work with a proactive, problem-solving approach, with sound judgement of when to raise issues to senior colleagues and when to progress independently. This includes the ability to take responsibility for and drive forward work through initiative and intuition.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, such as the ability to research and analyse policy or healthcare information, such as new government publications and guidance, and summarise for ICS Network members.
  • Ability to understand policy information shared by members to inform the actions and activity of our team, to help ensure we provide the best service to our members.
  • Demonstrable experience of using MS Office or similar (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

Desirable

  • Experience in politics, policy or healthcare
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, such as Microsoft CRM Dynamics, Salesforce, Hubspot etc.
  • Experience with event support and delivery, coordinating meetings, roundtables, and large-scale events
  • Knowledge of the challenges facing the NHS
