Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within NTW Solutions Limited, in the role of Clinical Technologist.
The suitably experienced and qualified professional will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team across several main sites covering Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. The position will be predominately based at St Nicholas Hospital, Gosforth. We are looking for experienced engineers or technicians who have worked in engineering or electronic/electrical instrumentation/medical device roles.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide planned preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, evaluation, safety testing, acceptance testing and clinical support in accordance with current standards for a wide range of medical device equipment for which the Estates Department and NTW Solutions is responsible for. The role will involve managing a small team delivering a high quality service.
- Provide technical skills and knowledge in analysing complex faults on a range of medical equipment.
- Calibrate and safety test all medical equipment prior to issue to clinical areas.
- Provision of technical advice and support to clinical staff and providing management of other external medical device contracts.
- Become familiar with all technical standards applicable to this post with particular regard to statutory requirements, policies, and regulations for safe operation of equipment.
- Ensure that equipment issued to staff is safe and fit for purpose and that the staff understand its correct use and limitations.
- Responsible for the implementation and delivery of the planned maintenance schedule.

- Have a highly developed in depth understanding of the engineering factors that can lead to equipment failure
- Have an advanced knowledge and understanding of all relevant standards and legislation that apply to the manufacture and use of medical devices
- Good problem-solving ability
- Have knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and Risk Management Procedures within the service. Must have a working knowledge of all relevant legislations such as H&S at Work Regulations.
- Have up to date specialist knowledge and clinical experience of a wide range of Medical Devices to include digital Medical Devices used by patients across the age range, in a wide range of settings and with a wide range of Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and medical diagnoses
- Be a holder of a current driving license

- Significant experience of Medical Device management in a large complex organisation including managing the planned maintenance and day to day workloads.
- Possess advanced Computer Literacy Skills (e.g. Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Word, and CAFM).

- Have highly developed practical engineering skills and manual dexterity
- Have experience in equipment management
- Be able to produce technical drawings/specifications for product manufacture
