Job summary

South Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub, working with local ICBs, are offering places for the Nurse Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) Programme starting in October 2023.

This role is open to both Registered Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses (or Nurses due to qualify before October).

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit experienced Registered Nurses, or Newly Qualified Nurses wishing to pursue a career in general practice to join our 1-year training programme, providing health and wellbeing advice, care and treatment to patients on placement rotations in our GP practices across South Yorkshire.

Our practice population have a wide variety of needs, from management of complex and chronic conditions to health screening and advice, immunisation and vaccinations, and identification and treatment of all common health concerns. Thanks to additional support from the SY Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub, we know that if you're the right candidate, we will be able to provide you with the robust support, supervision and professional development you'll need in the first year to become a confident autonomous practitioner and have a successful and long career in Primary Care.

We are advertising this role on behalf of the SY Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub.Please note, this vacancy is for Sheffield placements only. You will be employed by Primary Care Sheffield or a Sheffield Practice.

This role is being advertised with the support of the SY Primary Care Workforce & Training Hubs Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) Primary Care Nurse Training Programme, which aims to support nurses new to primary care employment on placement rotations in General Practice during the first year of their career. This role is to develop and deliver high quality patient care to meet the holistic health care needs of a practice population.

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services care to the population the practice serves. Supported by senior nurses within the practice, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring long-term conditions, and engaging in health prevention and screening activities.   • Registered Nurse or Newly Qualified Nurse (with a current NMC PIN or one pending)
  • Hold (or about to be awarded) a degree in nursing
  • Knowledge of Wellbeing and Health Promotion
  • Awareness of the role of community nursing overall
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes

  • Understanding of the General Practice Environment
  • Knowledge of the audit process in healthcare
