Job summary

The post holder will be a Qualified GPA working as part of Wigan North & Central Primary Care Networks a network of thirteen GP practices working collaboratively across the networks area with our community partners to look after the health and wellbeing of our local population.

Our GP Assistants support the smooth running of clinics either in GP surgeries or in community settings by performing routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP team freeing up their time to focus on the patient.

As Team Leader you will be responsible for coordinating a team of trainee GPAs in the day to day running of all community clinics. You will be co-ordinating and assisting with projects associated with delivering the Direct Enhanced Service, Investment and Impact Fund, Primary Care Standards as well as other key target areas.

Main duties of the job

Duties - Administrative

Coordinating rotas, managing ongoing projects and associated admin with leading a team of GPAs

Participating in training and development of trainees

Sending and monitoring patient satisfaction surveys as well as collating results

Performing and managing searches of electronic patient records across the PCN

Duties - Clinical (full training will be provided as needed)

Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients

Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, Pulse checks, ECGs and phlebotomy.

Using accredited risk assessment tools to assess a patients risk of developing diabetes and cardio-vascular disease

Supporting with chronic disease reviews for patients

Explaining treatment procedures to patients

Support the GP with immunisations/wound care/health checks

Participating in health events

Working in different community settings to deliver a holistic care approach

General Duties

Ensure that all activities are monitored and evaluated.

Attend internal meetings as required and liaise with other teams within the organisation.

Work in accordance with PCN policies.

Attend any training courses and supervision sessions as required.

Work with due regard to the Health and Safety Policies across the PCN, ensuring that all practices and procedures are undertaken in accordance with issued guidelines.

Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

To be prepared to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends if required.
