Job summary
The First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) Community Joint Injections is a locum position within Together First, delivering specialist musculoskeletal care in a community hub setting. The role focuses on providing joint injection services to patients registered with GP practices across Barking and Dagenham, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality clinical care in line with commissioned LIS/DES specifications.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the face-to-face assessment of adult patients referred via the electronic referral system (ERS) and for administering joint injections where clinically appropriate.
Key responsibilities include:

Assessing and triaging patients to determine suitability for community-based joint injection procedures.

Administering joint injections in line with clinical guidelines and commissioned LIS/DES specifications.

Ensuring appropriate consent is obtained and comprehensive clinical documentation is completed and returned to referring practices via ERS and discharge summaries.

Completing regular self-audits and contributing to service audits to evaluate clinical outcomes and injection success rates.

Working collaboratively with the Clinical Lead and wider service team.

Contributing to agreed KPIs, patient safety reporting, safeguarding processes, and service performance objectives.

Maintaining professional competency, including attendance at a joint minor injection course every three years as required by the commissioned specification.

Together First delivers community-based clinical services designed to improve access, enhance patient experience, and improve health outcomes. The Community Joint Injection Service operates from Parsloes Hub in Dagenham and provides extended access clinics throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, depending on referral demand.
The service works in partnership with local GP practices and Primary Care Networks, ensuring clear communication, structured referral pathways, outcome auditing, and continuous service improvement to meet patient and commissioner expectations.
