Job summary
We are seeking a Community Dementia Coordinator to join our Community Services team in a rewarding multi-site role.
This position involves travel across London, Hertfordshire, Essex, and Brighton, delivering and developing high-quality, community-based dementia support services.
You will lead a range of engaging programmes designed to support people living with dementia and their families, while ensuring services are stimulating, inclusive, and person-centred.
The role includes coordinating day-to-day service delivery, supporting staff and volunteers, and driving the growth of dementia-friendly initiatives across multiple locations. You will also act as an ambassador for dementia awareness, working with partners and stakeholders to promote best practice.
This is a full-time role (36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday) requiring flexibility, organisation, and a passion for making a meaningful impact.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity for a compassionate and organised Community Dementia Coordinator to lead and develop engaging dementia support programmes across multiple community sites.
You will coordinate activities such as Memory Cafes, Singing for Memory, and Art sessions, while supporting a team of assistants and volunteers.
The role involves programme development, stakeholder engagement, and delivering dementia-friendly initiatives that improve wellbeing and social connection.
You will work closely with families, community partners, and internal teams to ensure high-quality, person-centred support. Ideal candidates will have experience in community services, a strong understanding of dementia, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Young Onset Dementia Coffee Mornings
You will support a team of Community Dementia Assistants, work closely with volunteers, and collaborate with community partners to ensure high-quality delivery. You will also develop new community initiatives, organise larger dementia-friendly events, and act as a dementia ambassador to raise awareness and promote best practice.

Key Responsibilities - Coordinate day-to-day running of all dementia programmes and maintain high standards of service
- Oversee strategic development and growth of community dementia activities across multiple locations
- Support, manage, and develop Community Dementia Assistants
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers
- Develop new activities in partnership with people living with dementia and their families
- Organise larger cross-community events and celebrations
- Collaborate with internal colleagues, community organisations, and local authorities to promote dementia-friendly practices
- Represent Jewish Care at external forums, networks, and stakeholder groups
- Support safeguarding processes and contribute to performance and impact reporting
- Promote Jewish Cares wider services and signpost individuals to additional support
Key Requirements - Experience in a community-based role, ideally supporting older people or those living with dementia
- Strong understanding of dementia and the challenges faced by individuals and families
- Knowledge of the Jewish community, its culture, observance, and traditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy, compassion, and respect
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities, able to manage multiple programmes and meet deadlines
- Ability to support, lead, and collaborate with staff and volunteers
- Confident, calm, and solution-focused in challenging situations
- High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Positive, proactive, team-focused approach, committed to high-quality, person-centred support
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and clear boundaries
