Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate Clinical Care Manager to lead high-quality nursing and care services in our care home with nursing. This key leadership role offers a Registered Nurse the chance to shape clinical standards, develop colleagues, and ensure safe, person-centred care. You will provide visible clinical leadership, support clinical governance, inspection readiness, and continuous quality improvement, working closely with the Registered Manager and deputising as required. This is an opportunity for a confident clinical leader passionate about care excellence, staff development, and positive resident outcomes. Full-time, 39 hours/week, Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities: Lead and oversee nursing and clinical care, ensuring compliance with NMC standards, legislation, and organisational policies. Manage assessments, care plans, medication, wound and end-of-life care, and clinical interventions. Provide supervision and guidance to nurses and care staff, supporting admissions and pre-admission assessments. Maintain clinical governance, quality, and compliance with CQC standards, audits, safeguarding, MCA/DoLS, and regulatory reporting. Line manage, appraise, and develop staff, champion digital care systems, and support training. Oversee staffing, environment safety, incidents, and complaints. Deputise for the Registered Manager and act as a visible clinical leader.
Requirements: Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with leadership/management qualification or willingness to work towards, experience in care home nursing, medication and emergency care, dementia/palliative care, CQC knowledge, and strong clinical leadership. Dementia or specialist nursing qualification desirable.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Nursing Practice
- Lead and oversee all nursing and clinical care practices, ensuring compliance with NMC standards, legislation and organisational policies
- Ensure high-quality assessments, care plans and risk assessments are completed, reviewed and implemented effectively
- Oversee medication management, wound care, end of life care, clinical interventions and emergency responses
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision and guidance to nurses, team leaders and care staff, escalating concerns appropriately
- Support admissions and pre-admission assessments to ensure residents needs can be safely met
Clinical Governance, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain clinical and care standards to meet CQC requirements, ensuring inspection readiness at all times
- Lead and contribute to clinical audits, quality assurance processes and action plans
- Ensure safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS and best-interest decision-making processes are followed and documented
- Support regulatory reporting, investigations and CQC inspections
Workforce Management & Development
- Line manage, supervise and appraise nurses and allocated team leaders
- Ensure NMC registration, revalidation and professional standards are maintained
- Promote reflective practice, clinical supervision and ongoing professional development
- Support the planning and delivery of training programmes and mandatory training
- Champion electronic care systems and digital processes
- Ensure comprehensive inductions for new staff
- Undertake safeguarding and employee investigations within required timescales
- Operational & Environmental Oversight
- Support effective rota management, ensuring safe staffing levels and skill mix
- Ensure the environment is safe, well-maintained and compliant with health and safety standards
- Manage incidents, complaints and clinical concerns in a timely and person-centred manner
- Operate within the organisations Risk Management Framework
Leadership & Deputising
- Deputise for the Registered Manager, including on-call responsibilities as required
- Act as a visible, credible clinical leader, modelling professional and organisational values
Essential Requirements - Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with current NMC registration
- NVQ/QCF Level 4 or 5, or a recognised leadership/management qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience working in a care home with nursing or similar clinical environment
- Experience leading and supervising registered nurses and care staff
- Experience in medication management, emergency care and end of life nursing
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, MCA/DoLS and clinical governance
- In-depth knowledge of nursing care for older people, including dementia and palliative care
