Job summary
Jewish Care is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Adviser to support the delivery of a high-quality, responsive ER service across the organisation.
This role suits a CIPD Level 5 qualified professional with strong experience managing ER casework in a complex, values-led or unionised environment. You will provide practical, solution-focused advice to managers, manage a varied caseload, and contribute to effective case management, governance and continuous improvement.
You will demonstrate strong alignment with Jewish Cares values, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a confident, professional approach to employee relations.
This is a 36.25-hour role (MondayFriday) with travel across North and East London and Essex. The role is hybrid, with an expectation of 3 days onsite.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
You will manage a varied caseload of employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, disciplinary, grievance, and absence cases. You will provide clear, practical ER advice to managers in line with UK employment legislation, HR policies and best practice, and lead investigations and hearings, including documentation and outcome letters. You will ensure cases are progressed efficiently and closed within agreed timescales.
You will build strong working relationships with managers, HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives, delivering a responsive and professional ER service. You will escalate complex or high-risk issues appropriately and support effective risk management.
You will maintain accurate ER records using the iTrent HR system, respond to HR Advice enquiries, and support preparation of Employment Tribunal documentation when required. You will also contribute to ER projects, process improvements and ensure compliance with employment law and organisational policy.
About You
You will be a CIPD Level 5 qualified ER professional with proven experience managing ER casework independently. You will have strong knowledge of UK employment law, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a professional, confidential and customer-focused approach. Experience working with Trade Unions is desirable.

- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience advising managers on absence, performance, conduct, disciplinary and grievance matters
- Experience working with Trade Unions (desirable)
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
- A professional, confidential and customer-focused approach
