Main duties of the job
About the
role:
Our service
supports clients within the home setting, within school/college and to access
the community to undertake activities they enjoy.
As a Community
Support Worker, you are a pivotal part of supporting clients to achieve their
personal goals and aspirations.
Some of these goals may be identified activities
such as:
Bowling, swimming, football, going shopping, cinemas, going on day
trips and short breaks.
You will be
required to be successful in establishing professional relationships with our
clients, their families and other professionals involved in their care and
support.
As a Community
Support Worker, you will need to be a professional who actively engages and
involves your client in their care and support needs.
You will need
to be RELIABLE, PROFESSIONAL and PUNCTUAL which in hand provides high
quality care and support.
The support Caremark Rotherham & Sheffield
provide takes place in BLOCK HOURS from 4 HOURS up to 14 HOURS
at any one time. As a Support Worker you will be supporting
your specific clients on a one-to-one or two to one basis
depending on the clients individual needs.
You will be
required to work on a two-week rolling rota where you will be expected to work
alternate weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
You will be supported and guided throughout your role by our management team for you to achieve your own progression and skills within complex care.

Summary of role
To share with
other staff in meeting the personal care and support needs of customers in a
way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their
independence. The care and support provided by Care and Support Workers is
expected to include support that would reasonably be given by members of the clients
family and is not to include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a
trained nurse.
Principal responsibilities
To assist clients
who need help getting up and going to bed in the morning and evenings, including
dressing and undressing, washing, bathing and going to the toilet.
To help clients
with their mobility and with any physical disabilities, including incontinence
and use of personal aids and equipment.
To support
clients out in the community such as trips shopping, to the cinema or other day
trips.
To care for clients
who are temporarily sick and need bed nursing and help with feeding etc.
To provide care
and support for clients who may be terminally ill.
To help in the
promotion of mental and physical activities of clients through talking,
outings, reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
To make and
change beds, light cleaning, emptying commodes and general tidying.
To support
clients within school or educational settings.
To support
clients with tracheostomy care, PEG care and other complex health conditions
where applicable.
To prepare and
serve light meals, clearing away and washing up.
To read and
write reports and be involved in clients reviews and training activities.
To adhere to
all Caremarks policies and procedures at all times.
To report
either to the Case Leader or Care Manager any significant changes in the health
or circumstances of a client.
To encourage
the independence of clients wherever possible.
