A day in the life
Usually spending your time on one community, you will be familiar with your residents and their individual needs. You will work with a buddy whilst you complete all internal training and grow your confidence to operate with the autonomy you're afforded.
You will be part of an MDT approach to supporting residents, liaising with other health professionals such as GPs and dieticians, assessing plans for care and reviewing medication. Our nurses play a pivotal role in supporting the person and their family.

Main duties of the job
Our nursing team work collaboratively with care and support roles across the service, external third parties and family to meet the holistic needs of residents. Nursing is an all-inclusive role from doing PEG feeds, catheter care, syringe drivers, wound management, observations, through to complex behaviour management and creating a positive behaviour support plans.
Our nurses are also supported by a detailed daily handover and daily Safety Huddle meetings to meet with representatives from all departments of the home. Its during this time that important issues are discussed, and staff are given the opportunity to raise any concerns or communicate information.
About us
The Lodge is HICAs flagship purpose-built service for high-end dementia care in our 96-bed specialised nursing home. Set within our Buckshaw Retirement Village, between the M6 and M61, its in close proximity to Chorley. The Lodge is separated into 5 communities between 15 to 25 beds that cater for the individual needs and behaviours of our residents.
At the heart of our home is the Market Square a buzzing and multi-functional hub that hosts a varied programme of activities to suit our residents, whether its enjoying the cinema room, playing on a piano, baking in the kitchen, enjoying tea and cake in the café or taking part in other organised activities.
Led by a highly experienced and person-centred Registered Manager, The Lodge has 2 full-time Deputy Managers (1 as an RGN) with each community headed by nurses, a Team Manager and Team Leaders who work collaboratively to lead the shift. The Lodge also benefits from senior management clinical leadership through an Operations Manager, Director of Operations and CEO who are all nurse qualified.
