Job summary

Registered Nurse: RMN/RGN for The Level, Inpatient Detox Unit in Nottingham

This is an exciting opportunity to join Frameworks substance misuse inpatient unit. We are looking to appoint an appropriately qualified and skilled person to take on the role of Staff Nurse within the multidisciplinary team.

The Level is a specialist inpatient facility providing service users from across the UK access to treatment for detoxification / stabilisation from alcohol and/or illicit substances. The Level is a nurse led service, overseen by our Consultant in Addictions Psychiatry.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Staff Nurse incorporates taking charge of a shift, assessment prior to admission, liaising with referrers and other specialist external agencies, designing plans of care specific to service user need, dispensing medication including controlled drugs, in addition to monitoring, reviewing and evaluating treatment plans which include recovery focussed groups and 1to1 interventions.

This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to join a well-established MDT and to take an active role in the continued development and promotion of the service. This position offers applicants the opportunity to develop a unique specialism, with development and training opportunities available. The Level is able to offer preceptorships for newly qualified nurses. The substance misuse sector is the perfect platform to further enhance your physical and mental health knowledge and skills.

Administer medication, including controlled drugs in accordance with national guidelines and local policies and procedures.

Ability to assess and respond to those service users presenting high risk in relation to their mental or physical health, risk of overdose, providing information, guidance and advice with regards to improving quality of life and managing risk effectively.

To actively participate in team meetings with the focus on service review, development and improvement.

To ensure that essential training requirements are current and up to date.

To take an active role in appraisal, clinical and managerial supervision, identifying aims and objectives for personal development in line with the service business plan.

This post provides nursing care and support to vulnerable persons affected from substance misuse. Treatment and other specialist services are generally delivered through referral to and in partnership working with specialist provision, however in line with the needs of the service there will be a requirement to deliver specific evidenced based interventions for which training can be provided

The post holder will need to demonstrate flexibility to ensure that they engage with all service users within the service appropriately.
