We are currently seeking a Care Support Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team, supporting a client with Spinal Muscular Atrophy based in London, across two locations as he splits his time between his university residence SW7 and his family home in SW19.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful as a Care Support Assistant, you’ll need:
A caring and empathetic nature
Good communication skills
A genuine desire to support others
Basic IT and record-keeping skills
A full UK driving licence is advantageous
Previous experience is helpful but not essential – full training provided
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, with documentation valid for at least 12 months, to ensure continuity of care for the person we support.
Main duties of the job
About the Role
As a Care Support Assistant, you will receive full training to help you thrive in your role and gain confidence in providing quality care. After training is completed, you will receive a competitive rate of pay of £17.24.
This position involves 24 hours per week, including day shifts on the shift pattern of 3.30pm – 9.30pm. Flexibilty is required to be able to cover annual leave and sickness for the following shift patterns:
7.30am – 3.30pm
9.30pm – 7.30am
Some elements of our client's care is delivered on a 2:1 basis and this role includes a fair share of weekends.
Please not applicants must be willing to work in an environment with a small dog.
Your Responsibilities as a Care Support Assistant
Support to access the community to meet friends and do things he enjoys
Support to attend university
Meeting our client's complex needs including but not limited to :
Moving & handling – specific and complex, is at high risk of fractures and can suffer pain if not positioned correctly
High risk of pressure sores – needs regular repositioning and observations of skin integrity
Personal care – full support with washing, dressing, toileting etc.
Eating & drinking – full support to prepare, eat & drink
Secretion management which includes oral suction, chest physio, cough assist, & nebulizer administration
Ventilation overnight and when unwell
Saturation monitoring (oxygen saturations, heart rate & temperature)
Medication administration
