Job summary

We are looking for a passionate Practice Educator & Advisor to lead in the ongoing assessment, management and delivery of care packages for children and young people receiving complex health needs.

Practice Educator & Advisor

Based in Warrington with the expectation to working across services to meet the needs of the business.

This job is within the Childrens homes to lead in the on-going assessment, management and delivery of care packages for children and young people receiving complex health needs. including setting and maintaining standards of care; professional advice (where appropriate); customer liaison; training and supervision of support workers and team development. To ensure service meets and exceeds all relevant legislative/commissioning frameworks.

37.5 hours a week with the expectation that these will be worked flexibly to meet the needs of the services you support.

£26.98 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Main duties of the job

About you

To be successful in the role of Practice Educator & Advisor you will have a minimum of 2 years experienced and confident in children's complex health, including respiratory management including ventilation and tracheotomy support.

In addition, you will also need to:

  • Pediatric Nurse qualification with current PIN number.
  • Ideally will hold qualification in training and mentoring.
  • Must have experience and confident in children's complex health.
  • A full driving licence and own transport would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities:

Training and development

Responsible for training new staff in all relevant health needs for each child, supporting and supervising new staff from a clinical perspective but not being allocated to or responsible for the child/young person

Complete refresher updates and competencies for all staff as per Courtyard Care Policies

Assist in the development for on going competency assessments for all staff

Develop training resources and materials

Deliver training in mandatory areas such as medication, first aid etc

Clinical

Be responsible for own ongoing professional development

Identify and assess care need requirements within a home care package and maintain regular and appropriate contact with the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate levels of staffing are met.

Ensure that clinical interventions are met through effective planning and use of staff

Undertake six Monthly review/update of health needs plan for child/young person.

Ensure that all intervention are within the relevant framework

Provide clinical interface between the service, commissioners, line managers attend all childrens reviews and related meetings as identified by the registered Manager

Provide support and guidance to the staff team for all matters of a clinical nature

Work within NMC guidelines

Develop and undertake medication audits in services to ensure highest standards of practice

Maintain effective Registration with NM

Lead by example through attention to professional conduct

Attend team meetings for clinical issues/matters only

Support the Registered Manager in the root cause analysis of and leaning outcomes following medication errors

Contribute to clinical policy update and review

Practice educator will offer advice to team in clinical matters within the health support plan and direct them to universal services outside of the health support plan
