Main duties of the job

Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, part of Active Care Group, is a specialist neurorehabilitation service with 39 beds, delivering high-quality rehabilitation for adults with acquired brain injury and complex neurological conditions.

We support individuals with Level 1 and Level 2 rehabilitation needs, including those with a combination of physical, cognitive, behavioural, and psychosocial challenges. Rehabilitation is delivered through a coordinated multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice, structured care pathways, and goal-oriented, patient-centred outcomes.

Job responsibilities

The role:

As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will:

  • Deliver safe, innovative, evidence-based OT interventions grounded in neuroplasticity and motor re-learning principles
  • Manage and prioritise a complex caseload, acting as a Key Worker for patients to coordinate their rehabilitation journey
  • Contribute to diagnosis, problem formulation, and rehabilitation planning as part of an MDT
  • Plan and support safe discharges, including prescribing and providing equipment where needed
  • Maintain high standards of clinical records and ensure timely, effective communication with patients, families, the MDT, and external agencies
  • Supervise junior staff, assistants, and students and contribute to in-service training
  • Take part in service developments and may occasionally provide cover at our nearby Chislehurst site
