We are delighted to begin recruitment for a Ward Manager to lead a newly established team at our Hothfield site.
Were seeking a skilled and motivated clinical leader with extensive experience in tracheostomy and ventilatory care, alongside a strong background in neurorehabilitation and complex care.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Matron and report directly to the Hospital Director. This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop a dynamic new team, delivering exceptional care within our innovative tracheostomy, neurorehabilitation, and complex care service.
Youll be supported by state-of-the-art neurorehabilitation equipment, enabling you and your team to deliver truly transformative care and achieve outstanding patient outcomes. You will also be part of a highly specialised multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech and Language Therapists to provide holistic, person-centred care.

Active Neuro service Hothfield Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre provides award-winning rehabilitation services for adults with neurological conditions resulting from injury, illness or disease. We have enhanced our environment and introduced innovative technology, creating spaces that support rehabilitation and recovery.
Set in Kent within the 12 acre grounds of a manor house, Hothfield Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre specialises in intensive rehabilitation for people in the early stages of recovery from a brain injury right through to residential care.

What you'll be doing:
- Through strong clinical leadership, the Ward Manager will promote excellence in nursing care, maintaining and improving clinical standards.
- The post holder will ensure that all residents are treated with compassion, dignity, and respect, valuing the diversity of the local community and beyond. They will be highly visible and accessible.
- The Unit/ Ward Manager’s key responsibility is to ensure that clinical care is clinically effective, safe, and delivered to the highest standard to their assigned area.
- Lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred nursing care, ensuring compliance with ACG standards, clinical governance frameworks, and national regulations.
- Maintain a visible and accessible leadership presence, supporting colleagues and acting as a role model for professional, safe, and compassionate practice.
- Work collaboratively with the Matron and MDT to maintain and monitor excellent clinical standards and drive continuous improvement in resident care.
- Oversee the effective rostering and deployment of nursing colleagues, ensuring safe staffing levels, appropriate skill mix, and responsiveness to service needs and acuity.
- Manage colleague performance through regular appraisals, performance reviews, and addressing underperformance or attendance issues in a timely, supportive manner.
- Identify training needs and ensure all mandatory training, clinical competencies, and professional development plans are in place and regularly reviewed.
- Ensure a supportive learning environment for students and new colleagues and monitor the quality of placements and mentoring within the clinical area.
- Lead or contribute to incident investigations, including root cause analyses, and implement actions to prevent recurrence and promote organisational learning.
- Champion dignity, privacy, and respect in all aspects of care, advocating for residents and ensuring their voices influence service delivery and improvement.
- Ensure all actions and documentation comply with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), including making timely referrals and maintaining accurate records of assessments and best interest decisions.
- Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with national legislation and ACG policies, and act as a key point of contact in multi-agency safeguarding processes.
- Support and lead service improvement initiatives, participating in development programmes that enhance the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of care.
The Registered Manager holds overarching responsibility for the operational management and strategic direction of the service.
What you'll have:
- RN1: Registered Adult Nurse, Level 1, part of the NMC register
- A postgraduate qualification in Nursing is desirable but not essential
- Proficiency in tracheostomy care, neurorehabilitation and complex care
- Ability to demonstrate clinical and professional knowledge
- Can manage own workload with excellent time management skills
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage resources
- Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance
- Held an AFC band 6 post or equivalent for at least 18 months in an acute clinical environment
- Significant clinical experience in tracheostomy, respiratory care, and neurorehabilitation at a AFC band 6 or equivalent level or above
- Experience in palliative is care is desirable
