Main duties of the job

Due to the expansion of our services, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team they will work with our clients in all settings to enable them to lead an active, meaningful and fulfilling future.

As a Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in assessing, treating, and managing individuals with a wide range of neurological conditions, helping them to achieve their maximum potential. This role offers a diverse caseload, working within our cutting-edge Neuro Hub and delivering high-quality care to clients in their homes and communities, and therefore a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

We work with clients with a wide range of neurological conditions to include:

Acquired brain injury

Spinal Cord Injury

Stroke

Neurological Degenerative conditions such as MND and MS

Polytrauma clients to include orthopaedic injuries Upper and lower limb amputees

Our clients predominantly have a medico legal case on going, but we also work with clients who fund their rehabilitation themselves. We are known for our client centred values and for offering highly skilled interprofessional rehabilitation. Our therapists are encouraged to think outside of the box, to work innovatively and holistically to deliver life changing sustainable outcomes.

What you'll be working:

Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, advice, and treatment of clients following life changing catastrophic injury
  • Manage own caseload working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Provide Occupational Therapist as part of the multidisciplinary team, and be involved in interdisciplinary team service developments, meetings and audit as appropriate
  • Demonstrate empathy with distressed clients, carers/ families and colleagues, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist
  • Undertake continuous professional development and invest in the team by promoting excellent skills and embedding innovation
  • Write reports in a range of styles as well as keeping up to date with clinical record keeping
  • Keep an overview of treatment programmes to ensure they are aligned with clinical recommendations and the rehabilitation package commissioned for each client
  • Take responsibility for defined areas of clinical specialism, developing advanced skills and sharing knowledge and skills with others via mentorship, training and joint sessions.
  • Be accountable for own professional actions and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate
  • Work within defined departmental and national protocols/policies and professional code of conduct to guarantee quality and safety
  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for the quality of own work and submit performance data as required
