Main duties of the job
We are pleased to present an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our well-respected team at Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre located in Newmains, Wishaw.
Specialising in the rehabilitation of individuals in the early stages of recovery from acquired brain injury, as well as providing residential care for those with progressive neurological conditions, such as Motor Neurone Disease, our facility is committed to delivering personalised assessments and intensive rehabilitation for up to 46 patients.
As part of the wider Active Care Group Neuro Network (consisting of 25+ sites) nationally, we focus on the use of clinical expertise, innovation and technology to meet patients' expectations of rehabilitation goals. Our dedicated team is also well-versed in managing associated needs, including specialist spasticity management, PEG feeds, and skin integrity problems.
Moreover, we offer cognitive rehabilitation, functional retraining, and Sensory Modality Assessment and Rehabilitation (SMART) assessment services as needed. Our overarching goal is to consistently strive for the best possible outcomes in terms of independence and quality of life for each individual under our care.

What you'll be working:
This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, fixed term for 12 months.
What you'll be doing:
- Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights
- Support the Practitioner Psychologists within the service on a day to day basis
- Provide a high standard of quality care under the supervision of a Practitioner Psychologist
- Assist in the formulation of routine care plans involving the psychological treatment or management of the patients' condition
- Attend and contribute to MDT meetings
- Support the delivery of teaching and training to other members of the team
- Work within the professional practice and organisation guidelines
- Assist with audit and research as required

- A BPS recognised Psychology undergraduate degree of 2:1 or above
Experience

- High level communication skills (written and verbal)
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems or other disabilities would be an advantage
- Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a neurological context
Desirable
- Previous healthcare experience
