Job responsibilities
Located in trendy South East London, 10 minutes-walk away from the pretty cafes and boutiques of Greenwich, the unit has a 19-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward with and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward with 18 beds. Both wards provide specialist treatment to patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from an acquired / traumatic brain injury.
You will work as part of an enthusiastic, supportive, and experienced multidisciplinary team (neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social workers) led by our Head of Therapies, who is due to gain Practitioner Full Membership of the Division of Neuropsychology, of the BPS, and will belisted on the Specialist Register for Clinical Neuropsychologists.
The Blackheath Brain Injury Unit is a renowned centre for complex neurorehabilitation and is part of the Active Care Group Neuro Network (consisting of 25+ sites nationally) which has a focus on the use of clinical expertise, innovation, and technology to meet patients expectations of their rehabilitation goals.
There is a strong ethos of patient-centred high-quality care which drives clinical and administrative decision-making. There have been exciting new renovations to the wards and value is placed on staff wellbeing. As part of our commitment to the continuing professional development of our team, we offer support and funding towards the BPS Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN).

What you'll be working:
This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, however we understand the need for a positive work, life balance and would be happy to discuss flexible working for the right candidate.
We are also happy to consider part-time hours for candidates with other employment, or training commitments, in order to support personal and professional growth and development.
What you'll be doing:
Plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload.
Complete comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of patients.
Functioning as a Key Worker/Named Therapist to ensure active coordination and management of the therapeutic programme to achieve the agreed rehabilitation goals.
Assist the MDT in diagnosis, problem formulation and planning of rehabilitation programmes.
Provide intervention as part of an MDT approach and be involved in MDT service developments
Ensure effective and timely communication at all levels (with patients, families, the MDT and external agencies).
Develop and deliver in-service education and training programme for the wider MDT.
Supervise junior staff including assistants and students to carry out tailored neuropsychological intervention
Ensuring all practice, records, and clinical notes comply with BPS and HCPC guidelines.
Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights.
