Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to help shape our Psychology services at our new hospital in Birmingham. The Kings Norton Hospital opened in December 2022, and isa 32 bedded Adult Mental Health hospital for men and women with severe and complex mental health conditions. The hospital consists of a combination of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) and general adult provisions. The Kings Norton Hospital is easily accessible via the cross city train line and bus routes. As an Psychologist you will be supported by a full MDT including Medical Director, Specialty Doctors, Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist, you will also have the support of the wider Psychologist network within Active Care Group.

Job responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Complete assessment and clinical formulation of patient’s problem behaviours and treatment needs
  • Provide evidence based individual and group treatment programmes to address or reduce the negative impact of difficulties
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of individual and group treatment programmes
  • Direct and support others to carryout evidence-based clinical psychology interventions
  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring that appropriate security procedures are adhered to at all times and that risks are continuously assessed and managed
  • Maintain CPD of an HCPC Registered Practitioner Clinical Psychologist and to ensure competence in relation to the administration and scoring to psychological assessments and risk assessments
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, visitors and carers

What you'll have:

  • Be HCPC Registered
  • Hold a Psychology Doctorate
  • Have experience working in an Adult Mental Health setting.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and workload effectively in line with the needs of the service
