As a Maintenance Operative at Sonning Gardens Care Home, you will be responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are well-maintained, undertaking a variety of routine tasks and basic repairs to keep the facilities fully functional.

Main duties of the job

As a Maintenance Operative at Sonning Gardens Care Home, your focus will be on ensuring the building and grounds are well maintained. You will undertake a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services, and apply basic fixes to equipment and systems to ensure the facilities are fully functional. Other responsibilities include supporting new residents to arrange their rooms, ensuring routine re-decoration is undertaken, and advising on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks. You will also be required to provide an out-of-hours emergency service and participate in the on-call rota.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.

  • Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
  • Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
  • Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.

  • Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
  • Hold a full driving licence.

  • Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
