Job summary

This Sous Chef role at Avery Healthcare's Alice Court Care Home in Eastbourne is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team providing high-quality culinary services to residents. You will support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team to deliver nutritionally balanced and visually appealing meals within budget.

Main duties of the job

As a Sous Chef, your focus will be to support the Head Chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved within budget. Other responsibilities include preparing modified diets, supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, understanding food safety principles, and supporting the team in understanding Avery's food safety management system.

  • Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
  • Understandingthe principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards.
  • Supportingall culinary team members in fullyunderstandingthe Avery Food safety management system.
