Job summary

We are looking for Bank Support Workers who have a caring and person centred approach and great communication skills. You must also have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, be reliable and honest, with a respect for privacy and confidentiality.

Essential Criteria;

  • This position has a genuine occupational requirement covered under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, therefore onlyfemale applicantscan be considered.
  • Staff need to have a minimum of 6 months to a year previous care experience as this role has clinical complexities associated with the care provision requirements.

Main duties of the job

Person Specific Information; We support a lovely young lady with Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy who lives in South Shields. She is a soon-to-be PhD candidate and has a great support network made of friends and family.

The lady we support requires overnight support with personal care and medication administration. Her staff will need to provide bespoke person-centred support for her nursing and complex clinical needs.

The young lady is incredibly positive, but can have days of ill-health, which can affect her mood. She requires staff who are friendly, sociable and open for a friendly chit-chat. She is very patient and understanding with her support staff and wants staff to have as many as shadows as needed to build their confidence.

Staff will need to have a minimum of 6 months care experience. They must have a willingness to learn and understand the importance of ensuring that she needs to feel safely supported and comfortable in her own home.

Our team of Support Workers perform a vital role in ensuring that our service users are supported safely, in an effective and caring way that is responsive to their own individual needs.

You will be providing flexible support services to service users with a range of physical and/or psychological needs, for example, neurological conditions, brain injury, spinal injury, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs.

Support Duties

Provide safe and person-centered support to service user(s) as detailed in their individual Care Plan.

Follow agreed Care Plans to support individuals in the following areas (if applicable):

Cognitive rehabilitation therapy

Have an open-minded approach to Service Users and be flexible, adaptive and considerate of their needs at all times.

Keep in regular contact with Case Coordinator and office staff by text and email.

Be responsible for your own transport arrangements for accessing your designated place of work, inclusive of necessary insurance, MOT and tax.

Act in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times, being respectful of service users, families and any associated professionals.

Responsible for managing your own diary, checking your rota(s) and ensuring you are available for confirmed support sessions.

Undertake any other general or Service User specific duties/training as directed in order to meet the requirements of the role.
