Job summary

As a Staff Nurse, you will work within a dermatology team to deliver care to patients within a Clinic environment. You will participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to provide support to patients with Dermatological conditions.

Main duties of the job

Support patient pathways in Dermatology and participate fully in the treatment and monitoring of patients

Supervise and demonstrate procedures for junior staff qualified and unqualified

Assisting Dermatologists and Surgeons with a range of specialised procedures such as general dermatology and skin care surgery

Plan and organise own workload in order to meet Clinic and patient needs

Ensure compliance with Clinic Policies and Procedures

Assisting in outpatient clinics

Check referral letter, results and x-rays are available for clinical sessions

Support the community dermatology clinic, providing education and resources to patients, their families and staff

Perform a full skin assessment on each patient including dermoscopy where necessary

Perform all aspects of relevant nursing care for patients including specialist dressing/bandaging techniques and the removal of sutures clips

Assist and chaperone patients whilst clinical examinations/procedures are being undertaken

Assist medical staff with fine needle aspirations, core biopsies and take responsibility for the collection/labelling of specimens

Provide high standards of care in various Nurse-led follow-up clinics including phototherapy, cryotherapy, acne clinics, PRP and related clinics, patch testing and assisting in minor surgery

Support where and when necessary with audits, triage of results and triage of referrals.
