Job summary
Liberty Care provides therapeutic and progressive supported living placements to adults with learning disabilities, psychological needs, mental health issues, physical health disabilities, sensory impairments and behaviours that challenge, providing a competent staff team and supported living schemes through South East Wales.
The Assistant Psychologist will work across all the services that Liberty care provide depending on the clinical needs of individuals at that time.This will involve working with the individuals who present with the most significant behaviours that challenge or mental health difficulties within liberty care.
To support and enhance the psychological input to service users within Liberty Care.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities will include
- Undertaking psychological assessments and interventions under the supervision of the clinical psychologist
- Supporting the Clinical Psychologist and other Liberty care staff to undertake teaching and training.
- Supporting the Clinical Psychologist and other Liberty care staff to undertake clinically relevant research, service evaluation and audit.
- To provide leadership on one shift a week where you will provide direct care and support to individuals with complex needs.
- To carry out other duties as agreed with the Clinical Psychologist Managers.

- Undertake psychological assessments using interview techniques, psychometric
assessments, functional analyses and structured interview/questionnaires.
- Analyse data and use computer facilities to graphical present results from
psychological assessments
- Contribute to and prepare clinical reports outlining the progress of work with
service users and obtain a Clinical Psychologists counter signature on such
reports.
- Undertake individual therapeutic interventionsupport the Clinical Psychologist in preparing material for psychological
assessments, interventions and service delivery.
- Engage in joint clinical work with colleagues within Liberty care as delegated
by a Clinical Psychologist.
- Prepare teaching materials for the provision of training to other professional
staff and agencies.
- Assist in the provision of training in the use of psychological approaches to
other professional staff and agencies.
- Participate in clinically relevant research, service evaluation and audit
projects.
- Provide Liberty care with information regarding clinically effective
interventions by competently undertaking literature reviews, using the internet
and library facilitates.
- Responsible for administrative tasks relating to case-work including keeping
case notes and preparing written reports in line with the Policies and
Procedures of the BPS and other guidance.
- Carry out
such administrative tasks that may be required by the Clinical Psychologist.
- Manage
diary to ensure competent time management and completion of clinical work,
research, professional development and attendance at meetings.
